Sony KDL-40EX503 Review
There were a lot of high expectations before the Sony KDL-40EX503, otherwise known as the KDL40EX503 was launched in 2010. This could be a bestselling mid range TV. Would reviews of the model live up to expectations?
Most reviews have been very positive.
Picture quality is perhaps the key factor of a great TV model. The KDL-40EX503 offers full HD. The upscaling from standard to high definition works well with little noticeable noise present. Sony have chosen the tried and tested backlit technology for this model rather than the latest LED backlighting. This works even better than Sony’s 2009 full HD models with excellent black levels and vibrant colours.
Sound quality could be better. But this is the case with most modern TVs with slim screens and little room to house speakers.
Sony has replaced its Applicast internet functions with Bravia Internet Video. This is an open system , allowing developers to design applications for it with more choice for the consumer. Initial offerings are from Facebook and You Tube. Others are following from BBC iPlayer, Twitter and LoveFilm, together with weather, & news info and many others.
As it is DNLA compatible, with the ability to connect to PCs, mobile phones and MP3 players, the Sony KDL-40EX503 is reasonably future proof. It also has a USB port and is Wi-Fi ready.
The Sony KDL-40EX503 will be on may people’s wishlists for 2010 and 2011.
